In addition to the shade, water evaporation from their leaves cools the surrounding air. In the winter when they are bare of leaves, they allow in sunlight which adds warmth to our homes and reduces heating bills.

Trees act as a buffer against noise. Evergreen trees with thick foliage are effective at reducing the noise of cars and neighborhood lawn equipment. Noise can be reduced by as much as 40 percent by a single well placed tree.

Well placed and healthy trees increase the curb appeal of your home. They increase the chances of selling your home quickly should you choose to sell it. Mature trees in particular, have a moderate to strong impact on curb appeal. Trees in well landscaped neighborhoods can increase property values by as much as 20 percent.
