Choosing Shade Trees For Your Estate

Choosing Shade Trees For Your Estate

When choosing the types of trees to have planted on your property, there are quite a few things that you need to consider. Not only do you want the trees to look fantastic, but you want trees that are beneficial to you in other ways as well. Shade trees can help cut down on high power bills. Take a look at how to select the best shade trees for your property.

Size

It\’s important that you know how large a specific type of tree is going to get so you can see if it is the right fit for your property. You\’ll need to make sure that you have adequate space for it to grow since some shade trees will grow rather large. Plenty of room to grow will mean far less problems in the future. You\’ll have to make sure that it is not placed too close to your estate or anything else, as mature canopies are usually very big.

Shape

Some shade trees will spread very broad, while others will have more oval to rounded canopies. Large properties can typically handle the broad spreading trees with ease. Keep in mind that you can always have large trees trimmed regularly to keep them from interfering with anything else.

Energy

Make sure to have your shade trees planted on the south or west side of your property. This will keep the hottest sun off of your estate. If you\’re choosing trees based on saving energy, go with a deciduous tree. The leaves in the summer will protect your estate from the blazing sun, while the bare tree in the winter will help to heat it.
