How to: Tree Pruning
Tree pruning is done in order to get rid of any unwanted branches on a tree without hurting the health of the tree\’s trunk or stem wood. It is important that tree pruning is done properly so that the tree can survive and stay healthy. Tree branches grow from stems; and it is crucial that the branch portion of the stem is the side that is pruned. Stems are separated from the branch by a stem collar. Stem collars grow from the stem at the base of the branches located on the tree. The pruning must occur at this area so that the tree is able to survive and essentially heal itself from being cut.
